Events and Activities
MAGDRL is involved in quite a few activities and events to find homes for our Danes and to do fund-raising to support our work. Fund-raising is a necessity because each dog we receive is taken to a veterinarian for health checks as necessary and spayed/neutered before adoption. Because we are a volunteer organization, 100% of every single dollar raised goes toward the care of our dogs.
One common event is called a "Meet and Greet". At this type of event, MAGDRL will set up a table at a business location (typically a pet supply store) and will introduce our group to the public. We supply written information on all aspects of Great Danes and educate interested individuals or families on the prospect of adopting or fostering a Dane.
There are always some ongoing activities and fundraisers and we're always interested in taking on new volunteers! Events listed on this page include New Jersey and near-by portions of Pennsylvania, New York and Delaware.

Rain date - Sunday 8/22. For weather-related information, call 609-860-7800 The 6th annual "Because Your Dog is Worth it Too" Day is an event benefitting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. This event is held at the L'Oreal USA facility in Cranbury, NJ. Imagine a day where over 5,000 people and their best four-legged friends come together to play games, swim, eat and just enjoy each other’s company and raise thousands of dollars for breast cancer research. Monday, September 6 - Meet & Greet at the Rutherford Labor Day Fair The Rutherford Labor Day Street Fair is in its 35th year. This is the largest and longest running street fair in New Jersey - attracting over 20,000 people every year - rain or shine. Over 150 high-end antiques and collectible dealers highlight the event, supported by a cross section of adult and children's entertainment, a juried art show and fabulous food. It's an all-day festival of shopping and fun, a place for families to enjoy themselves with free amusements, inflatables, concerts, costume characters and more. Thursday October 7 - Third annual Tricky Tray Doors open at 6:00 PM Save the date! Last year's event was a ton of fun and a huge success! It was rated the 4th best event in New Jersey by TrickyTray.com Details will be posted as they become available. We're already receiving generous donations.
